Joe the Plumber Vs Julio of McDonalds and their relation to the ‘Stimulus” Bill
I keep putting off posting about this… bad Shannon.
I think that one only has to look at the media treatment of these two to understand media bias and the idiocy of instant celebrity (by those who make a person a celebrity and those who celebrate that person’s new found celebrity).
So… let look at the two and see what they remind us of what we already know about Obama:
Joe the Plumber
Obama will “spread the wealth”. That is correct: if you make more than the ‘magic number’ you get to have your hard earned cash taken away for the Federal Government to dole out to whomever they see fit. Yeah, why can’t Joe decide who gets his money? This guy really should check his facts without going through the Obama-Media machine.
Julio of McDonalds
Obama promising, again, tax cuts. Was he chuckling for such a choice pick from the audience? Does this chap truly represent the type of young adult that voted for Obama? “I’m working at McDonald’s! Please Mr. President, improve my lot in life.” Really? Is this what 12+ years of public education has given us: people come to depend on Government to improve their lot in life. Talking about neither growing up nor weaning from the teat that is dependence.
So, this brings us to that utter disgrace that is the called the Stimulus Bill. What does it stimulate? Small Business? Julio’s hopes? Neither. Given Obama’s stamping amount how important this Bill is to save the economy, one wonders: has he fully read it? Also, why do people refer to it as his plan when it was written by Nanci Pelosi and her fellow House Democrats? by the way, last I checked: Bipartisanship means both sides working together, not one side being told to shut up and sign it. (Note: when did it cease being OK to be critical of the Government, to dissent? When the White House went from Red to Blue?)
Now, I will say that the infrastructure needs work. And certainly keeping it up to speed will create some jobs. However, that is short lived and no long lasting. Businesses create the longer lasting jobs and greater opportunities for pursuit of happiness than government jobs ever will… unless you dream of being a bureaucrat or politician.
